︎Lucija Ivšić, former frontwoman of a renowned Croatian post-punk band Punčke, is the creative force behind ŽIVA, a bilingual music project combining experimental electronica, darkwave, and traditional Croatian singing techniques. Based in Melbourne, ŽIVA's energetic live shows feature Lucija building songs in real-time using live looping, vocal processing, and multi-instrumentation, creating a unique blend of traditional and contemporary performance.
As an interdisciplinary artist whose practice and research explores the role of technology in the creation of sonic heritage, she performed and exhibited works internationally at SXSW and Currents New Media in the US, DARK MOFO in Tasmania, Athens Digital Arts Festival, and locally at Now or Never and Melbourne Design Week. In 2023, her debut album gained worldwide recognition, earning acclaim from Croatian and Australian media. Lucija has won the "Best Electro&OFF" Artist of the Year award and has been featured on KEXP, SBS, 4ZZZ, PBS, and 3RRR radio. Her most recent work, Transhuman Ansambl, involves collaborations with non-human entities during her live shows. Lucija produces and hosts Cereal Music Talks, a podcast spotlighting emerging Melbourne migrant musicians.
