Lucija Ivšić aka ŽIVA
︎Emerging new media artist and researcher, composer, and experienced performer, Lucija Ivšić, known professionally as ŽIVA is currently living in Melbourne where she is undertaking her practice-based PhD at SensiLab, Monash University. Residing at the crossroads of art, science, and technology, her interdisciplinary artistic practice challenges the conventional approaches to live musical performance by blurring the boundaries between the commonly accepted roles of performer-listener, so as introducing new non-human collaborators through her performative installations.
Started her music career at a very young age as a frontwoman of one of the most successful Croatian post-punk bands Punčke, from 2007 - 2019 she played over 400 shows worldwide, released five critically acclaimed albums, and got nominated for an MTV EMA Award. In late 2021, ŽIVA debuted on the international music scene with the single “Power” which celebrates her Croatian heritage and blends modern sounds with the ones reflecting the culture she grew up in. Shortly after, the 2nd single “Dualism” climbed up the international song chart lists and received high appraisals from acclaimed music critics across the Balkans and Australia. Her work has been exhibited and performed at some of the most prestigious Arts Festivals across the world, such as Melbourne Design Week, ADAF Greece, and ARTeFACTo in China.
